I've never ridden a Val, much less the Rune, so I can't say firsthand. But long ago, I helped a pal shoehorn a Volkswagen engine into the frame of his Marusho, whose BMW boxer-engine copy had crapped out. Smoother even than a 750 Honda, Indian straght 4 or Ariel *Square 4*. His application was for use as a sidecar bike, but it was a lot of fun as a solo ride while setting it up.
Modern aftermarket styling, however, is not limited to Hondas, not by a long shot. I'm reminded of some of Raymond Lowey's styling designs, from the Pennsylvania Railroad's T-1 locomotive to the Studebaker Avanti...and the paint job on the first Air Force One.
