There has been controversy in the United States after two police officers shot and killed a suspected drunk driver in Louisiana.
The incident happened in a supermarket car park in the town of Shreveport and was captured on CCTV.
The 25-year-old man jumped out of his car and pointed what the officers say they thought was a gun. They responded by shooting him eight times in the back as he ran away. They then discovered his supposed weapon was only a mobile phone.
Police had chased him to the car park after he jumped a red light. A spokesman for the local police said they had studied the video tapes of the shooting. They decided it was justified because the officers felt threatened.
Shreveport police chief Jim Roberts said: "They felt their lives were in danger."
He said he believed the victim had engineered the incident to get himself killed in a "suicide-by-cop".

All he had to do was cooperate and he'd be eating a taxpayer-financed meal right now.
He chose to die.

They responded by shooting him eight times in the back as he ran away.Say what you want. Right or wrong! Running from a cop is dangerous. He may feel like running you down. He may be tired and take you down another way.
Onelife's recommendations for a long life:
1) Don't run from cops.
2) Don't spit on cops.
3) Don't tell cops where they can shove it!
4) Say "Yes, sir." and "No, sir." to cops, as required.
5) Don't take a swing at a cop.
6) If a cop is acting like a total jerk, see recommendation #4.

He jumped a red light? I'd be suspicious, too.

He jumped a red light. The sad part is that this probably cost us a Gold Medal at the next summer Olympics.

I don't know about that, but then I'm on a first name basis with every policeman I meet. His/Her name is 'Officer'....
To: tomball
My son is a police officer and I hope he would react the same way if he had a fraction of a second to decide what is being pointed at him.
If it was a gun in the hand of a maniac you'd have at least one dead or injured police officer.

"There has been controversy in the United States after two police officers shot and killed..."
This is news? Can anyone remember any police shooting where there was no controversy? Maybe if we go back to the Bonnie and Clyde ambush, and even that raised some eyebrows, I'm sure.
To: Chances Are
People do it all the time! They want to commit suicide, but instead they threaten the police to end up getting shot.
This really happens.

When dealing with LEO's (something that happens once in a blue moon) I smile, say nice things and generally act pleasant and harmless.
Some of these guys are really dangerous, and they have the court system totally on their side.

NEVER SAY TO A COP:
1. I can't reach my license unless you hold my beer. (OK in Texas)
2. Sorry, Officer, I didn't realize my radar detector wasn't plugged in.
3.Aren't you the guy from the Village People?
4. Hey, you must've been doin' about 125 mph to keep up with me. Good job!
5. Are You Andy or Barney?
6. I thought you had to be in relatively good physical condition to be a police officer.
7. You're not gonna check the trunk, are you?
8. I pay your salary!
9. Gee, Officer! That's terrific. The last officer only gave me a warning, too!
10. Do you know why you pulled me over? Okay, just so one of us does.
11. I was trying to keep up with traffic. Yes, I know there are no other cars around. That's how far ahead of me they are.
12. When the Officer says "Gee Son....Your eyes look red, have you been drinking?" You probably shouldn't respond with,"Gee Officer your eyeslook glazed, have you been eating doughnuts?"

There is one and only one relevant question here:
Would "an ordinary citizen" (not law enforcement) have been cleared in this shooting, considering the deceased was shot 8 times in the back?
Yes or no.
Case closed.

Cops are not as brave as they used to be. They used to actually have to see a gun before they could shoot. Now all they have to do is start firing. All cop shootings are justified these days. The eight shots were used so there would not be a witness.

FOR THE ENTIRE STORY:
http://www.nwlouisiana.com/html/B8CC1891-828A-4388-947D-E41CCAFB76A5.shtml The person shot was Marquise Hudspeth who is black. Al Sharpton visited Shreveport on June 3rd and said to the croud that "we felt those bullets" and other such nonsence.
I happenned to be visiting Shreveport at the time and I wanted to attend the political rally/speech but I also value my safety and physical well being.
Sky news did a horrible job explaining why this was controversial.
Here is another link to all of the stories on the shooting of Marquise Hudspeth:

How do you exert you 2nd amendment right to "...keep and bear arms..." if a "cop" can shoot to kill, if he/she "felt" threatened?
At minimum, the person who is to be gunned down by "cops" would have has to first actually shoot at the "cops." Otherwise there is no liberty to "...bear arms..."
And living in the U.S. is suppose to be about liberty.
If that is too dangerous for you to be a cop, then don't be one.
When I was growing up in the 50's and 60's it was consider chicken shit and cowardly to shoot a man in the back.

I'm saddened, deeply saddened, that it took eight rounds to bring him down and there is no mention of what stimulants may have been in his system. Try dropping a perp hyped up on PCP. Several .45 rounds and two of 0-0 Bick from a shotgun were needed to stop a carzed perp in Alabama a few years back ... the perp didn't drop until past the two officers, and every round from the .45 was in the front, the two 0-o buck rounds went into the back.
