Is Free Republic too "Republican?"
Jim Robinson

Posted on 06/13/2003 1:55:59 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Is Free Republic too "Republican?" I've been receiving a lot of complaints lately that FR is not really conservative, it's Republican. Is that a bad thing?

When I started FR (see the wayback machine) I don't think I even used the labels conservative or Republican. But, even though I was a registered Democrat at the time (I registered when I was very young), I was definitely anti-Democrat. And definitely anti-big government, anti-government corruption, anti-government abuse, anti-liberalism, etc. And I still am.

As FR became more and more popular, people started referring to it as a "conservative" web site and so eventually I posted the label to the front page. If it no longer applies, big deal. What's in a label? I'll change it to "Republican" if demand warrants.

I'm still anti-big government, anti-government corruption, anti-Democrat and anti-liberalism. I just happen to believe that in the current political environment we stand a better chance of defeating the left (liberalism/socialism/marxism, etc) by using the Republican Party to defeat the Democrats. The organization is there. The platform is there. The winning candidates are there. The dollars to run winning campaigns are there. The momentum is there. And the vast majority of the conservative voters are there.

Makes perfect sense to me. I want to defeat the left, and I want to do it as quickly as possible. I'll go with the organization that can get the job done.

My current goal is to defeat liberalism by defeating the Democrat Party. If that labels me a Republican, then so be it. If the vast majority of the FReepers want it so, then Free Republic will officially become the newest "Republican wing" of the Republican Party.

Long live Republicanism. Long live the Republic!'

What say you, FReepers?

Ever hear about that famous quote ... "Read my lips, no new taxes" -- George Herbert Walker Bush, circa 1989-1993 Or are you fallen, too?

Does that justify 8 divisive scandal-riddden years of one Clinton and possibly 8 years of another Clinton?

Knock it off! As long as you invite biting the big_weenie as a method to change our nation, you have lost the promise about our nation. It's as though, you threw in the towel ... begging the lessor of evils to guide your government.

America's strength was about the greater of good and not the lessor of evil; we were based upon individual strength and dignity not random political views that modify our way of being.

That was no big deal and IF that is the ONLY thing you have to say, then it proves how politically naif you are.

Tell us all, Buckeroo ... how much did you love having two terms of Slick and how much you are looking forward to having any of the seven dwarves / Hitlery! as president. Just be honest, we already know that you don't want President Bush the younger re-elected.

Oh yers, and no matter how much you or anyone else rails here, there are only two candidates ( one GOP and one Dem ), who ever have the chance of ever becoming elected president. That's it ; you have NO other choice; none, and never shall have.

Yes ... you too are completely correct. It's a shame that some here, no matter what they imagine, don't know nor understand politics and haven't the courage to admit historical events and even use them in a twisted distortion, in order to make themselves appear to be knowledgeable.

Yes, we could've elected Gore. And we'd still be negotiating with Osama bin Laden right now and desperately begging the UN to ask bin Laden to quit bombing our cities. And also asking the UN how best to disarm the American people and how to unplug our electric chairs and how to best introduce homsexualism into our schools, how to better treat our prisoners, how to improve race relations, how to tax Americans for a world Army, world court, etc, ratifying Kyoto, ratifying treaties allowing the UN to overrule our Supreme Court, etc, etc, etc. The socialist list is never ending.

But never fear. You'll have another chance with Hillary. If not next year, wait four.

Try actually reading American history and learn about each former president. You view things through some altered sense, filtered through your imagination. That just doesn't cut it ! Your posts are sheer fantasies, stated as " fact ".

You know as well as anyone upon FR that I despise Bill Clinton and all he stood for.

But that doesn't mean that I agree with republicans; particularly with this administration that is taking America down a HELL_HOLE!

I deleted the comment I just made to you. Sometimes things are best left unsaid. So I will just say I agree with you.

Why are you afraid of Hitlery? I think of her as a disgusting nitemare .... not worthy of conversation .... yet, you find her to be a potential and possibly, formidable political foe in and about the USA.

Who is dis-illusioned here; you or me?

Ok, whatever. Forget Hillary. Name the next Democrat President you favor and it'll be the same result.

Yet, you would rather America elects another Clinton, to finish off America totally, than even dain to vote for Bush; who is NOT " taking America down a HELL-HOLE ". You wouldn't recognize a HELL -HOLE if you saw one.

Teddy Roosevelt decided to go fringe and as a result, we got Wilson. A bunch of stupid, illogical, naive, supposedly Conservatives either stayed home or voted for Perot and America got EIGHT YEARS of the Clintons.

You may claim that you " despise " Bill Clinton and all he stood for; however, your posts bely this sentiment. It's either ALL you imagine you want, or nothing and you'll take the nothing time and time again, instead of getting some of what you want. That makes absolutely no sense at all.
