There are 3 orders of the hierarchy in the Church: deacon, priest, bishop. A man who is preparing to be a priest will first be ordained a transitional deacon. A married man who wishes to serve in the hierarchy of the Church would become a permanent deacon. If his wife were to pass he could then be permitted to prepare for the priesthood.

3 orders of the hierarchy in the Church would also be refered to as the 3 degrees of the sacrement of Holy Orders.
These are the 3 ordained ministries of the Church
