I had a Suzie, actually, Lady Suzette, a miniature dachshund who was very jealous of my newborn son. Used to poop under the crib just out of spite. Love you, Suz.

My mini dachshund would "wet" on my pillow when he was mad at me! But despite their jealous antics - dachshunds are the best!

On June 23rd, my 14 year old dachshund Rambo will have been dead one year.
That will also be the day my husband will go in for surgery. The doctor's statistics indicate a 4.5% death rate.
I know it's just coincidence, but I kinda got a cold chill when I saw the date scheduled...Like it's an omen.

I'm crying now. I know just how this woman feels. I never had a pet in my life. When I turned 40 out of the blue I told my husband I wanted a dog. He fought me tooth and nail (What does that mean?) Anyway, I got my way and Lilly came into our lives. She's the little putt of white and we instantly fell in love with her. About six months after she came to us, both my Mother and Father became ill and BOTH moved in with us. I had to quit my job and I don't know how I got through that trying time. But I do know that whenever I looked into that sweet dog's face, I felt a peace and love that I had never felt before. She sat by my Father when he was at his sickest and comforted my mother when she was contemplating a future without my Father. Whenever I felt really depressed, that dog would do something that would bring a smile to my face. I truly believe that God sent that little dog into my life when he did. It's been a long time since I've posted a picture of my Lilly, so here she is:

I truly believe that God sent that little dog into my life when he did. He did. After all, "dog" is God spelled backward.
There is no creature on earth that reflects the loyalty, the devotion, the unconditional love that a dog pours out on us humans.
We don't deserve it, but our sweet "Lily"s do it anyway. That's just the way they are.
If you ever get a chance to read Francis Thompson's poem "The Hound of Heaven," do so. It's about God pursuing us, and never relenting.
There's a reason the poet chose a dog as a metaphor for God.
Your sweet dog looks like our Bichons.

When we bought her, we were told she was a Maltese. As she grew up she looked more like a Bichon, but those in the know tell us she has no Bichon in her. Who knows?

Lilly's hair looks to be wavy, which is very Maltese. Bichons have curly hair, so curly that, if they're not brushed every three days or so, they'll mat.
Our next door neighbor just adopted a Maltese puppy (Maggie), and she's a darling. Lots of stain, though, around her eyes and mouth.
