can't answer for others, but I originally studied art history as a stepping stone for historic preservation. I have always loved, and have been involved with, saving historically significant landmarks. See, that's cool, but nowadays, a landmark to one is a symbol of oppression to all the people of a different color than the one who erected the landmark.

Piano rolls-- you know, player pianos! Pianos that play by themselves (made popular in western saloons). Believe it or not, they're still manufactured today!
