My girlfriend has a bachelor's degree in history (and we're both currently working on getting masters degrees in library science; I also have a law degree). Last night, I was talking about how useless some of the degrees people can get really are, since they have no application whatsoever outside of the academic world. She went nuts, thinking I was making fun of her degree (I really wasn't even thinking about it; I was thinking about all the people in our masters degree program that had degrees in things like sociology and women's studies). Perhaps I should completely push her over the edge by declaring she should get a CDL so she can actually make some money.
