You can say that because perhaps you never had to deal with a "schizophrenic". There are mentally and emotionally disturbed conditions that describe what you are looking for, but schizophrenic is not one.

Depression, post-traumatic-stress-disorder, multiple personality, and others would seem to be more fitting.

Actually, I have dealt with schizophrenics, but I think you're right, multiple personality disorder is probably more appropriate. I guess I was looking at it more in terms of liberals being the whacked out, out of control side, and conservatives being the calmer, more in control side, combining to create a single profile.
