Well, since you gave only one answer, you are the winner.

Your prize is to prove what is the source of Io's volcanic activity? Is it the same as Earth's? (sucky prize, huh?)

I can theorize only. I think the best guess is the proximity to Jupiter. The forces in that neighborhood must be hellacious.

Although I do have quite a bit of unused vacation time...I'll update you all when I return from the Jovian Hot Springs and Burger Grill on Io.

Absolutely not, this is series and hugh.
Instead, we should go here and gear up.

"do I pay my July housepayment or not???"

I don't know, but I'm gonna go flirt with that good looking babe that moved in next door and hope "X" gets here before her husband kills me.

Excellent, and it deserves a ping!!

RA, this is some fun stuff, care to toss in your expert opinion.

Lightspeed, I am sure that you have read this stuff, check this out.

I'm a little disapointed, but only a little!! LOL ;)

Other facts for one to ponder.........

*If Jell-O is hooked up to an EEG, it registers movements virtually identical to the brain waves of a healthy adult!.....or Eaker :o)

*A dime has 118 ridges around the edge!

*The ostrich cannot fly, but it can outrun a race horse!

*Eavesdropping on your own conversation is a felony in Illinois

*In TX, a $25 a year license is required to possess a dead alligator!

Stay Safe !

Our solar system porpoises up and down as it circles the Galactic plane...passing thru spiral arms.
Here the oort cloud on the periphery of our system aquires and shed comets and other large bodies;
some spiral in on vast time intervals..to become comets of long duration...others are torn to peices in gravity wells..the fragments becoming comets of short period duration....eventual earth crossers.

Some comets outgas with jetting as recorded by the Giottoprobe which scaled Halley's comet's outgasssing to 5 million pounds thrust...nearly the volume of energy of the space shuttles engines.
The 'cape effect' discovered by Brian Marsden when comet Swift Tuttle jetted itself into a different trajectory as it hurtled into deep space...observed in same workings in Halleys comet.

Some comets cease candessing and outgassing...their approach and exit from our solar system or within it unseen..as they reflect no light...black missiles and fragment trains ,the result of tidal forces..like mirved warheads ranging in size of 10's of kilometers wide and upward, roaming until impact.

Whats the higher end size of comets..or super comets?
Pluto was thought to be a true planet..and may actually be a inert comet from the oort cloud..traveling in its orbital configuration..rather than an ellipse toward the sun.

I watched a program with animation on a stars life...the sequencing phases of several star magnitudes..their final outcomes.
there are suns which have burned up all their fuels..what remains is a final state..a giant Iron sphere

after the last of the carbon is consumed..only iron remains.

Image this...a giant black sphere..moving thru the universe...reflecting no light.
What would that do to a solar system should one pass thru it?
How many spent suns are roaming the universe?

Their may not be a planet x..but thier may be comets of huge magnitude and of long duration..of 15,20 to 90,000 yrs....they could appear as suddenly as Hale Bopp did in 1997..[ Hale Bopp unrecorded by man..having transited earlier in 2210 BC..its duration est at 4,210 yrs]

The Mayans were terrified of Kulkulcan..whose passing brought about the end of a Sun age..and the near annihilation of mankind.
Where did Kulkulcan go?..was it torn to pieces..becoming so many impactors in our inner planetary system?..or is this world killer still out thier?
Tragic for us if the Mayans did some math on it..and the Dominican monks burned the record when they torched so many of the Mayan Codecies.
As Chuck Heston narrates in the opening of the movie Armageddon.."It happened before..it will happen again"

Heard Leder on C2C a month or two ago. She said people would be mad at her if she was wrong.

Did you just give up on her or are you out to tar-and-feather, or ....?

Personally, I'm counting on that asteroid that's gonna hit in 840 years or so.

.....rather than an ellipse toward the sun.

Pluto a comet, huh? That might be a candidate to explain its elliptical orbit, actually passing inside of Neptune's orbit
and in an intersecting plane to the rest of planets.

BTB, I did a search in the freebie version of Orion Telescope's "The Sky" for "planet x" and got a "not found".

Must have been a slow day in the EEG lab........

"*A dime has 118 ridges around the edge!"

Must have been a slow day in the neighborhood bar.......

"*The ostrich cannot fly, but it can outrun a race horse!

Horses can't fly, but they can kick the crap out of an ostrich.

"*Eavesdropping on your own conversation is a felony in Illinois"

That's stupid! How else are you going to know how brilliant you are?

"*In TX, a $25 a year license is required to possess a dead alligator!"

Yep! Had to get one with the last pair of boots I bought.

An interesting region Neptune to the Kuiper belt.

Neptunes moon Triton has that telltale retrograde orbit..354,000 kms from Neptune..hinting that it is a Capture from the kuiper belt.

Triton is volcanically active now...inertial motion having microwaved its interior layers..which are convecting.

Pluto also retrograde, its orbit tilted 17% to the plane of the ecliptic..8 AU above,13 AU below...and in synchronus rotation with Charon.[both peices of the same comet?]

The Kuiper belt having 500 known bodies,,with 150 known short period comets having origen there..like Halley's
most of the Kuiper belt objects have a 3:2 orbital resonance with Neptune..as Pluto does too.

had to study a bit on that resonance stuff....need pictures!..as I am learning challenged : ).

Other retrograders...Uranus..and Venus..[4+ mph equitorial rotation..we can both walk faster : )]

I would probably get eaten for lunch as I do not see the accretion model as the only theory for our solar system;
science keeps changing the numbers..ie recently they said that Jupiter could have formed in 1/3 of the time than previously hypothesised.

They have found "Black holes" all over our neighbourhood...I'm thinking gravametrics has much more to do with solar system configuration than the accretion theory..with everyone cooling off.

Hello Aric

Last year, watched a documentary on the Incas.
This researcher discovered that the Incas had carved..and on a grand scale..as they removed rockfaces on mountain sides..and terraced or built up mountain sides..to portray the universe as seen by them on the sides of the mountains.
the reworking and fashioning is at a high altitude..over miles and miles..encompassing many mountain ranges.
The constellations carved in mirror on the mountains..the cosmos reproduced in 3d.

The scale makes the Giza plateau look like a childs sand box : )
A few scenes were filmed at night..it was breathtaking seeing the Milky way.

Supposedly they learned this mapping alone...no duplication of the Mayan learning.
I do get fascinated by Von Daniken and Graham Hancock...their forwardings allong with the Hebrew account of "Those coming down" from above..then teaching man..is sure a reasonable account if one considers the distances from the many cultures which have astral cartography as part of their cultures expression.
Hancock ,Velikovsky and some others forward that man has a form of world wide amnesia of the terror of the ancient times.
Maybe there is something to the Mayan sun age cycle...somewhere's in the 4-5,000 yr window.
what ever they knew before hand..they kept at it..as they built temple upon temple..we are still trying to figure out the time dating for the first building..and then the reality exists..that those who built the first temple..were sojourners from elsewhere;
..survivors from a cataclysm.

This stuff is fascinating, I always wondered how they could have done that.

Then of course you have the stories of the Giants, they are almost in every culture as well, coming down in flaming chariots etc.

I always wondered what all of this stuff was all about, then of course I read Chariots of the gods etc, and found some really fascinating hypothesis. I think that they are a lot of fun.

You never know how the ancients would have described such things.

Ahh, yes, we do indeed live in interesting times.
