The Wahhabi relish in meting out the death penalty is a bit much for even this death penalty supporter. Application of the death penalty should be more in sorrow than in anger, and applied only because justice demands it, even as we recoil from it all, but realize that the public square requires for its well being the performance of some unpleasant tasks. I suspect I am not making much sense here, but in the end, what I am suggesting is self restraint and prudence, and a careful balancing of the gift of life with harsh realities. The problem with the Arab world as a generlization is that it seems to lack the capacity for self reflection. Until it masters that, it won't really be civilized in the sense that the West views it.

I'm just curious, but how do you justify this statement in light of the fact that we execute lots of folks here in the good old U.S. of A. You know there is an "executioner" at the switch for "old sparky" who does the same thing. Actually, if I had to die I would rather a sword or bullet as opposed to being fried...
