Stands to reason that in SF, the heart of liberalism, they'd run him off the air.

Sorry, but NOT if the show is bringing in enough $$ to justify the contract... If that's the case, the contract makes good business sense.

Being somewhat new to this thing- can you tell me please EXACTLY what you find so appealling about Savage & his show show? Just wondering if I could get an "insiders" POV. THANKS!

You don't have to look any further than the losers in the publishing industry who didn't want to print Ann Coulter's last book. They said it didn't "further the measuring stick of political debate." They lost out when her book was a bestseller for months. They were more worried about being PC than making money.

The guy doesn't hold back. When he screams at a loser caller, it's better than any comedy club act I've ever seen. While Rush reads the RNC talking points, Mike is a little further right nad speaks what's on his mind. I like Rush too, but I like Mike better.

I agree with alot of Mike's views concerning Boarders Language and culture. If you got to his website read what he believes in. You may not like the way he comes across, but my god,he makes me aware of another side of the "truth" that we are so called being fed via TV and the NY times.

But the guy is real and has a way of putting out the truth.
I personally like his tone and attitude it gets me over the hump to make a change in my community and world. It makes me act!

But it seems its all bluster & no content! Whats the point? Why not just air Jerry Springer radio then?

If you don't hear him talking issues I can't help you my friend. How long have you listened to him? He's not #1 in his time slot for no reason.

Well, publishing is a whole different business - it is FAR more liberal and kneejerk than radio. For a conservative radio station to cut someone out of spite is just stupid. The Ops Manager maintains a 24/7 conservative lineup despite his personal beliefs, because it's a successful business and makes money for the company.

Maybe you're right and KSFO only gets to keep 10% of what his show birngs in, I don't know the business and don't really care. As long as he's heard in SF eventually is all I care about. I'll take Mike at his word on this until I hear different.

KSFO says that Savage didn't renew the contract. Why would they lie? It seems to me that the "technical difficulty" he refers to is the lack of another Bay Area outlet yet.

I think that's exactly what it is. Looking upthread a little, I was shocked to see the "engineers" blamed. That's unconscionable.

Best...

I don't know where the "engineers" comment came from, but Mike never blamed the problem on them, at least not seriously, he might have made a funny comment, but he didn't say it seriously. I have all of this weeks segments in mp3 if someone cares to point me in the "right" direction.

I don't pretend to understand the syndication deals - I just know that I don't know anything about them. :-)

As for me, his credibility has been lowered every time I hear him read something that a Freeper has posted and passes it off as his own, or read a post from a Freeper, saying that he just read something that Freeper wrote.

Were you able to call the station and ask them yourself? I would imagine their lines have been jammed this week.

I don't live in SF and could care less about KSFO. I'm in Texas in a non-Savage market and listen 15 hours a week on the net.

Hi - This is quoted from Post 166 by Ambisonx, who seems to be able to type while listening to the radio (a remarkable skill - hats off!):

"By the way if you are listening to me in the Bay area and you can't get me in San Francisco, there are tech--- KSTE, 650 on the dial, this too shall pass- let me put it to you that way- whatever the technical difficulties are I'm sure this too shall pass. Life is that way and ultimately at the end of the day there is freedom of speech. There is ultimately freedom of speech; we do not live in Stalin Russian no matter how many little men there are in America; no matter how many tiny teeny-weeny Stalins there are in America ultimately free speech shall rule; no matter how many mean little men ultimately free speech shall reign; no matter HOW MANY TINY LITTLE WOULD-BE MARTINETS THERE ARE at the end of the day, free speech shall reign no matter whatever the technical difficulties may be. And that's why I say we'll fix all those technical difficulties; we'll find out which engineers are screwing up; and we shall move on." (6-5-03 broadcast)

What do you make of that?

I don't have a problem with Weiner's conservatism, I have a concern with his Jew-baiting TACTICS: On Weiner's appearance on the Hannity and Colmes show, this exchange occurred:

COLMES: I have a concern about some things I have read about you and have heard tapes of you say-
SAVAGE: Good-
COLMES: referring to Madeleine Albright as "Madame Brisket," talking about Joe Lieberman "throwing his bagel into the ring"-
SAVAGE: yes-
COLMES: referring to ACLU attorney, the mythical, "Mark Nobody-berg." There are some people who might infer anti-Semitism from those comments. Can you put that in a context that makes sense?
SAVAGE: Yes, I'd be very happy to. There's no greater supporter of Israel and the Jewish people than the man you are looking at, number 1. And number 2, I am proud to tell you that both I and my children would have qualified for admission to Auschwitz.
COLMES: Well, I understand what you are saying, but can you understand why some people might be upset by those statements?
SAVAGE: They should be upset- they should be upset that people of Jewish backgrounds don't seem to get it. They still back liberal causes when liberalism threatens their survival-
COLMES: But those phrases people can read into that something that seems a little ugly.
SAVAGE: My job is to wake people up. Harken, awake. My job is to make them understand that sticking to tailfins 1959 may cause us the end of America, as we know it. The Jewish people have been targeted. These people must be in the vanguard, not in the posterior of the movement to save the Jewish people.

Savage did not explain his anti-Semitic remarks except to insist that there is "no greater supporter of Israel and the Jewish people than the man you are looking at" and to make the rather odd assertion that he would have "qualified for admission to Auschwitz." That is not an explanation; it is an evasion.

Why does Weiner feel the need to remind his listeners that Madeliene Albright has Jewish ancestry by linking her with an ethnic food, i.e, brisket? Whenever Weiner ridicules the ACLU (for good reason), he never fails to pick a Jewish name to mock the ACLU lawyers, e.g., "Mark Nobody-BERG", "Milton Berkowitz", "Marvin Shapiro", in addition to using a Jewish accent in parodying the lawyer, And finally, as we all know, Weiner's favorite scapegoat, the RDDB's, is a codeword for "Jewish liberals."

Savage's show is fine- I'm just wondering if it can be quantified. When I said "Springer" I was just replying to what you said- that you like the way he screams at callers- just sounded like the Springer sideshow to me.

-ruready4eternity said, "If you got to his website read what he believes in. You may not like the way he comes across, but my god,he makes me aware of another side of the "truth" that we are so called being fed via TV and the NY times." ... I'm not interested in his site- I'm curious what about his SHOW you like. You can criticize Rush for ticking off the RNC talking points- but he has a clear agenda.

You also said that you like the music & food stuff too. So it sounds like a cult of personality then anything. So again- is it that you find his personality compatible with yours? Does he remind you of friends you have? Does he sound like yourself? I'm just wondering how to understand his apparent RABID following.

Rush fans are of a type & so are Hannity. But none seem as DEVOTED to their favorite host & I'm trying to understand why. Thats all.
