To certain critics of U.S. policy in Iraq, the only thing worse than going to war with Saddam Hussein is the fact that we won. I hate to be cyncical, but some of this "failure" to find WMD may have a political motivation.

In other words, Bush Inc. may be letting the leftist politicians and media dig their holes a little deeper before the big finds are made.

Yesterday's thread about WMD was the most ridiculous I've participated in on FR and it's hard to believe some of the comments coming from long-time Freepers. Some people are always looking for something to complain about, it seems.

We did not go into Iraq to liberate Iraqis. We went into Iraq to preempt a threat to Americans. Mission accomplished.

I care about Iraqis freedom about as much as they do their own. I will not send my son to fight or die for Iraqis.

This will have the same legs of the so called looting and Powell is acting on his own by those who post/cite these Dog Clinton articles to slam GW, Tony and our military.

Keep in mind that if we had found vast caches of WMDs, these very same people would be complaining that our brave troops (although I doubt they'd use that adjective) were out in the desert digging up weapons while the Baghdad power grid wasn't in full working order and water service wasn't up to pre war levels. 

 

The pro-dictatorship left will seize on anything they can to try and discredit the administration.  They have no morality or ethics so the irony of them attacking the U.S. while turning a blind eye to the mass graves, torture chambers, and children's prisons left behind by their hero is lost on them.

 

The likelihood that Saddam disposed of his WMDs, without any record or evidence is remote.  He's had five years to conceal the banned weapons and programs and they're not going to be found overnight.  So far, we've gone through about 25% of the known military munitions depots, a highly unlikely place to hide WMDs.  They'll be found sooner or later.  Until then I turn a deaf ear to the critics of this operation, who will be proven totally and conclusively wrong yet again.

Every day there is more and more coming out and one would think the naysayers would smarten up and give it six mos. to a year before complaining. Even then, WMD could so easily have been moved to another country or sold, all while we dithered trying to appease the Neville Chamberlains of their time.
