You forget that the rules do not apply to government executive or enforcement persons in America. They are merely doing their duty, and a few dead Americans is a small price to pay for their expert "service".There are far too many people (including judges) who view things exactly the way you describe. But this view is not morally justified--and I did not want to dignify it by explicitly referring to it. The principles of morality are the same for all persons--even government officials. That's the whole point behind the concecpt of the 'rule of law.' To have different rules for government and its officials violates the principle of the rule of law, and (by definition) establishes tyranny.
Maybe I should add the sarcasm tag... looks like this thread requires them. ;^)
I picked up on your sarcastic tone right away, actually. But it wouldn't surprise me if others failed to catch it.

Hey, I got ripped the other day for questioning the methods of the TSA, and for questioning whether airline safety was really all that much better for the hassles, so it wouldn't surprise me to see folks on FR being unquestioning defenders of Federal LEO's. They're here.
