Most of my time there was spent well east of Murphy, over near Highlands and Franklin. Even there, people would make "Have you seen Eric Rudolph?' references. Last time I was up (October), I actually drove through Murphy, on my way to Chattanooga. It struck me as a nice little town. It's too bad that the genuinely good folks in the area (of whom there are legions) are going to get the media smear treatment as frothing right-wing lunatics, simply because a few of them may have helped Eric Rudolph.
