Where did we jump from the existence of ancient Egyptian maps of the coastline of Antactica to an ancient civilization on the continent equivalent to 18th century?

What? What? (I'm irritated because I have absolutely nothing to add) I don't know what to make of it. I sure as heck wish I did.
Let's get RightWhale over here. He's familiar with Hapgood.
I'm beginning to wonder if we're not in for a suprise about the history of the world/mankind.
I just had not figured it'd be in Antartica.

I heard about the ancient maps of Antartica later being confirmed by NASA. Interesting stuff.

I thought Piri Reis was a baseball player.
I remember that several years ago the Christian Science Monitor did a major article on the seimic data agreeing with a very old map which was thought to be a copy of an even older one. That's extraordinary enough without bringing in Atlantis. Maybe Pravda was just hankering for the good old days when their stock in trade was fantasy (sort of like the NY Times).

I'm beginning to wonder if we're not in for a suprise about the history of the world/mankind. I just had not figured it'd be in Antartica. I too think at some point in the near future a HUGE discovery will be made. Maybe something will be found in Iraq now that it will likely open up to scientific study. I've always figured that the Sahara holds some major secrets. Nothing will surprise me, not even Antartica.

"I've always figured that the Sahara holds some major secrets. Nothing will surprise me, not even Antartica." The big secrets are underwater. The middle-east, Measopotamia and etc. are late comers to human history. IMO.

Interesting article. Didn't Van Danikken (or something like that) attribute the Piri Reis map to extraterrestrial intervention in Chariots of the Gods? This explanation is somewhat more plausible.
Of course, what does this say about global warming having been cause by the USA? If it was much warmer on the planet 10,000 years ago, how could THAT have been Amernicans fault???

Heck, I want the stagger wing! It comes with the Snowcruiser. Designed to mount on top.
