Who Else is Sick of Hearing About Scott Peterson?
Me | 29 May 2003 | Me

Am I the only one who is sick and tired of the wall-to-wall coverage of this case?

Rant on or flame on.

Do you note the difference between the Greek Tragedies and things like the Scott Peterson case? It is fiction versus reality. The people the tragedy befell are alive and more than likely having their suffering made worse by having to learn about gory autopsy details and the whatnot.

There really is nothing to support the notion that much of the Greek tragedies were based on the suffering of contemporarily living people.

To make real human suffering worse is clearly immoral.

Yes, I always try to watch Special Report, but sometimes I don't make it home in time.

Something else I've been doing more of is actually turning the set OFF and reading a book!
The quiet is a nice change of pace.

Well, areafiftyone, I guess we'll just have to bomb Iran or Syria to get this off the air. It's not going. But, we don't have to obsess over it either. When Greta comes on, switch to Scarborough. He's cuter and a lot more interesting.

LOL - I agree he is cuter! That's okay. I feel real bad for the Rocha family. Every once in a while the media attaches itself to one murder story that they find is going to interest the public. We can only wait until the trial is over before it starts to fade. For the longest time I didn't think the Chandra Levy case was ever going to leave the news but it did!!! It just takes time! Hopefully justice will be done in this case!

This may sound cold but I could care less if he killed her or didn't. It is a regional story certainly not national news. Just like the hazing story out of Chicago. Who cares

I feel badly for both families. It's such a mess. I only pray that the truth comes out. I hate the thoughts of this being another OJ case...cheez.

I'm a very straight man, and I'll even agree with that. As with stupid, cute is as cute does.

But who's this Scott Peters guy? ;-`

I agree that it is immoral, but isnt there something to base the notion on that most great writers ie Shakespeare based their tradegies on real events?

I expect it from the media...the fact that FReepers get into it bothers me...we're supposed to have lives and perspective. One chic in Cali got killed by her cheeseball husband...nothing more...it happens every friggin day...move on already.

You have to be careful with tag lines such as the one with your post 262. There will probably be a new thread started soon to discuss how this "announcement" proves Scott Peterson's guilt.

I am weary of this story. No matter what breaking news comes out concerning this case, I am SICK of it.

I am returning to c-span, or the movie channels for alternative entertainment. Caught Naill Ferguson, author of "Empire" last night on c-span II. A very compelling author, historian and speaker. I didn't agree with a word he said about America being an Empire. To me the word means land grabber ala Russia and HItler's Germany. America only wants peace for the world and plants its military there to protect those who cannot be protected. All countries who expelled the British and America, have not prospered. The Anglo nations bring stability and prosperity to those nations. Anyway, he gave me a lot of food for thought. Better than being brain mushed by the News Networks concerning Laci and Conner's fate.

But them again creeps like Geraldo, Greta, and Mark Fuhrman have built careers on appealing to the lowest cultural common denominator. Don't forget Rita Cosby. She is building a career on these type of stories. A good reporter like she is shouldn't be going down this road. Abrams is another such reporter. I agree with some freepers, that even Fox News is sinking into the pit of gossip and sensationalism. Could it be caused by the news reporters Roger Ailes is importing from the loser networks. Let us face it, news has become entertainment and news junkies like us, have to get our news from the internet. I agree with Drudge, the internet is changing TV and newspaper reporting.

I was thoroughly hooked on the OJ case. I knew everything by not missing one day. It was during the hot summer season and I was glued to the TV only going out at noon time break to shop for groceries. (I noticed the market was busy at that time too LOL.)
I vowed to myself, I will never get addicted to a case like that again. It was too emotionally draining. I had to eat those words when locally we had the Westerfield trial. I watched the trial daily. When one is familiar with the area, it brings it closer to home. Scott was picked up at a familiar spot, which also brings his case closer to home. If there is a televised trial(which I pray won't happen) I am afraid I am too weak to resist watching. The media creates the addiction and it takes a strong resolve not to get sucked in. Proud of all of you who shut off your TV or switch to other channels for entertaiment.

All Americans should watch everything that comes out of this case. This is medicine, big medicine, combined with the stories coming out of Florida which may help us someday to overturn Roe V Wade. I hope that whoever did this horrible thing gets a rope around their neck. Hell doesn't have a room hot enough for a bastard like that.
