This disease spreads in an unusual way. It appears that the medical community is not using good detective style analysis to determine mode of transmission.

Looking at all the evidence we have, I can make only one conclusion: SARS also hides around the edges of (electronic)buttons including: elevator call buttons, keypads, nurse call buttons, button flushers on toilets, ice machine releases, soda machine key pads, bed adjustment buttons, volume controls, medication adjustment control pads, blood pressure machine buttons, remote controls and so on.

If my "button theory" is true, it would take an extreme effort to properly sterilize everything. It would also be a strong recommendation for flat, sealed touchpads on everything, especially hospital beds.

If my "button theory" is true

If your button theory is true we have a real problem if this is let loose in American communities. Especially, considering the ability of the virus to stay alive for extended periods of time on surfaces.

On another note, haven't we been told that it takes a good amount of the virus to actually infect someone?

The WHO definition allows a loophole to not consider a sars patient a probable case unless they had contact with another sars patient or traveled to a sars infected area even if they are proven to have the virus. This works in favor of governments that prefer to keep their number of probable cases to a minimum while ignoring other methods of infection by transfer of sars virus from contaminated buttons and other objects. The WHO definition has flaws.
