"So, I wanna know am I a first generation American on my mom's side or sixth generation American? That's so confusing (although I don't dwell on it much)" Pip, I'd like to start a thread called, "Pip Says the Darndest Things!!"
LOL!
To: Pippin
LOL. Yes, we do assume a lot. But then, can I help it if I was never told the truth?

"And ain't likely to forget any time soon, pardner." Hey, gunner!
No, I know you ain't gonna forget!
If you do, I'll burn your steak next time!
To: TexasCowboy
LOL!
I guess I do say the strangest things!
But the reality it that it doesn't really matter what generation American I am, the best thing is that I'm an American.

That's true, We can't know the truth if we're not told.
I didn't find out about my dad's family until my trip to Tennesse to visit my cousin in Knoxville.

Difficult but achievable as your grandparents have demontrated :O)My grandparents are long gone, may they rest in peace. But, I remember always being amused that the women in my family (grandmothers and great Aunts) seemed to master English more easily than the men. I always used to think it's because women talk more than men - LOL!!
