As long as we had our memories, we would recognize the set called "circles" to consist of those two dimensional representations where pi is equal to the ratio of the circumference to its diameter.

And we will continue to do so pertaining to the circles we are now familiar with. If, however, a circle is found (say in the vacinity of a Black Hole where the laws of physics might work differently than they do here) that has different properties, than we will simple add that new information to our memories.

...I believe the geometry exists and is discoverable.

Isn't that what I'm talking about?

Thank you for your post! Indeed, I thought that was what you were talking about - but I was bewildered by the pi example.
