There's a growing apprehension that fundamentalist Islam is on the rise in postwar Iraq. It seems that not a day goes by without some publication featuring a photo, meant to be ominous, of Shiite Muslims celebrating a pilgrimage to the shrines of Najaf or Karbala, or of Sunni Muslims praying fervently at mosques in Baghdad or Mosul. As law and order continue to deteriorate, it's also been easy enough to find a mullah here or an imam there angrily denouncing the United States in the name of Allah. But while these stories make good copy, they distort what is going on, and add one more level to the layer cake of misunderstanding that most Americans, and yes, Europeans, have about the role of Islam not just in Iraq but in the Middle East as a whole.

it's almost amusing to invison what it really took to make America..America

Essential America is a church relocation project...a Christian protestant church no less...

The fundamentals of our Republican form of govt. are based upon the Christ inspired conscience if you will... the basic imprinting of the difference of not only right from wrong but also what is good and decent.

The rules for such a society are from the bible...and as such from the will of the God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob

To believe that "democracy" apart from Jesus Christ can be a template for any society devoid of the true essentials of the American form of govt. is plain foolishness imo...

Take Christ out and lay this template upon the arab muslims of the M.E. and watch them fall into place glorying in their new found freedom...and gratefull to America?....meanwhile following the Koran?...moderate Islam is apostate..as is moderate Christianity..(remember God himself said..would that you be cold or hot ..lukewarm I will spit you out of my mouth..Rev 3)

And as Kipling once said " A fool lies here...who tried to hustle the east...including the M.E. imo
