Well, I should say, I liked Event Horizon.

The Dance scene is not very graphic, it just may seem to some to be out of place, considering where it happens in the movie. I wish there was a 'spoilers' thread where we could discuss it more, but I don't want to ruin it for you.

I think a lot of people were chomping at the bit for some serious kung-fu right from the gate, but were instead treated to the somewhat 'tribal' dance scene. After 4 years, many forgot to manage their own expectations and remember that there is a real message to the film.

Do what I did. Buy tickets for two showings, so you can see it back to back. You will miss much in the first viewing that you will want to understand after you see the way they cut the ending.

I've always found that if you want to put spoilers, putting it in white font works well. Tell people that you are going to put a spoiler in in white text, and voila. Like this:

In order to make text be in white, use the following:
Whatever text you want to not have be seen unless the person manually selects it here
To see the text, just select it (either using your mouse or doing a control-a).

Hmmm. There are already a couple out there. I stumbled across a couple last night and read a reply before I realized what was happening. I'm kicking myself now. But really, in the end, I don't think I could spoil it. As you already know, many people who liked the Matrix watched it again and again. So this isn't a story that has a "gimmick" (like Sixth Sense) that would be totally ruined by knowing beforehand what the trick was. I would still like to see it virgin though so thanks for not throwing any spoilers out there.

It's making me antsy really. Here in my small village in Scotland, we're a little behind the power curve. The movie comes out on the 21st. I waited till today to reserve tickets- still plenty left. But I see and hear Freepers talking about this film. You guys have already had a chance to sit back and think about it and I haven't even seen it yet. I'm afraid that by the time I actually see it, the topic would have died down.

I was thinking about this whole phenomenom though- a trilogy type movie. Charles Dickens published his work in serial form. People waited on pins and needles to get the next installment. Think about that. People in America had to wait for copies to be sailed across the Atlantic. Apparantly in some cases, this caused riots at the harbor- people lined up waiting to get their hands on a copy before the ship ever docked.

What we're seeing today is nothing new as far as that goes. Better, it's a return to that era. I think it's a pretty big accomplishment for a director or storywriter to enthrall and captivate the public in such a way that a story can be played out over a long period of time like this and people are still interested, giddy with anticipation. It's an interesting phenomenom and it gives us an insight what it must have been like back in the Dickens era.
