It's a good thing that Jesse Jackson et.al. don't have the power to actually implement this idea. How fair would it be to fine 7- or 8-year-old white kids for the sins of the past, purely on the basis of the color of their skin? No one who wan't filled with haterd and bitterness could ever suggest such a thing. But fortunately, nothing like that could ever happen in our country. There aren't enough hate-filled people of the correct type to implement it. |
No thanks, I try to stay out of the "reparations" threads. The idea that today's children owe today's black people for "400 years of slavery" is a fundamentally goofy idea that treats human beings as ciphers of a certain type, instead of as free individuals.
