Posting this for Dixie Sass and me, Middleton Place in the Charleston, SC area,
located on the banks of the Ashley River.
Carved out of the wilderness in 1741, the home built there belonged to Henry Middleton,
the First President of The Continental Congress.
His son signed the Declaration of Independence.
It is America's oldest cultivated garden.

Oh my, thank you, thank you. I don't have a scanner otherwise I would have put in the picture of the Butterfly Lakes. Or the half moon bridge at Magnolia or, or, or a million other sites as beautiful.
The sheep grazing the lawns at Middleton. Just to drive by there in the early morning and see the mist rising from the the river to cover the fields. The horses grazing...

Oh, oh, oh, oh!!! I imagine there is no more beautiful a garden than those in the South. I love the moss in the trees, too!
