Yeah, look at how accurate polls are, for one. Polls are raw data, not statistics. Statistics is a formal mathematical discipline not normally considered in the least questionable. Algebra can't vouch for the data it is applied to, and neither can statistics.

Yes, but polls are *statistics* applied on top of the raw data. And unless you're expecting that everyone who is lying, it's the "statistics" that are wrong. Just in the same way that they try to use statistics to "prove" evolution. It's all pseudoscience.
