Orwell pointed out to us the dangers of Newspeak.

Yes but the major gist of that novel was to point out the dangers of allowing liberals to run the show.

Voltaire told us that we invent words to conceal truths.

Ahh, I see the left is beginning to feel safe to mention Voltaire again. It's been hard to find a Lefty quoting Voltaire lately. Normally, they trot his name out fairly regularly. It usually comes up when the issue is freedom of speech.

I dissapprove of what you say, but I would defend to the death your right to say it.

Ring a bell Lefties? Usually, they'll whip that one out on you quicker than a Frenchman can rip open a pack of Gitanes. The liberal recites this quotation with a certain flair- that is, they used to do it with a flair. It is a demonstration of his passion for freedom.

Then the war in Iraq came along.

In Iraq, the people had no freedom of speech. In Iraq, speaking your mind could get you killed in an unspeakably horrible fashion. In Iraq books critical of the ruling regime had to be printed on photocopiers and distributed via underground network. The liberal fiercely decrees that the highest form of free speech is the ability to protest and demonstrate. In Iraq the only demonstrations were those arranged by the State and carried out under the ever present and ominous mustachioed visage of the ruler.

We all listened to the left during the build up to the war. They were no longer quite so keen to defend freedom of speech with their lives were they? They weren't so quick to drop names like Voltaire. What happened Lefties? Cat get your tongue? Philosophy turn around and bite you in your collective ass? Voltaire dropped a dime on you didn't he?

It turns out that the liberal is merely posturing when he quotes Votaire (but we already knew that). In truth the only thing the liberal will fight over is how to distribute the wealth of others.

When a liberal trots out Voltaire and declares his willingness to die for your right to speak freely he is trying to portray himself as a staunch defender of freedom. But in concrete terms what it works out to is he only wants someone else to protect his right to defecate in the street in the name of protest or scream "Pig!" in the face of a law enforcement officer at the top of his lungs. All you third world types who don't currently enjoy these fruits of liberty, "talk to the hand-'cause Lefty aint listening", love of Voltaire notwithstanding.

Ahh, the Left. They talk a grand game. But when it actually came down to a situation where a people's freedom of speech could be died for- they choked on the that big socialist appendage they've been fellating all these years. Now that the cards have been played we see who would really fight and die for freedom and who would hit the streets to protest freedom being defended.

This is why this author has her jockstrap in a twist. This is why she loathes America.

The liberal is angry these days because the cat's out of the bag and the whole world now understands the score. Freedom doesn't just come through wishful thinking. It doesn't magically appear by paying your union dues. Having an "objective media" doesn't guarantee freedom, just ask the Iraqis and a man named Jordan Eason how much freedom CNN brought to that country over the years.

So where does one find freedom in today's world? If you are weak, who is your best bet when it comes to securing or maintaining your liberty? It surely isn't the United Nations- that organization did everything it could to keep the average Iraqi in bondage. If you're poor and oppressed you also best not turn to the modern liberal because you will receive no mercy there.

The author says her hate is like a disease and she's right- it's a cancer. She hates freedom and she therefore hates America because our nation and our President is the world's biggest defender of freedom. She hates us because we are the best and ablest guarantor of her right to have her vomit published openly. She hates us because we don't just quote Voltaire- we back it up with our blood.

Ironically, this author revealed the true nature of her soul in this piece and I am certain she has not the wit to see it. Using the Telegraph newspaper as a pulpit, she thumps and waves 1984 like a New Age Bible but just last week the Telegraph printed a piece called: Eric the Contrary (Eric Blair was Orwell's real name) which gave a brief but comprehensive sketch of George Orwell's life. George Orwell was a socialist. George Orwell wasn't a panty waisted pacifist though. He went to Spain and fought against Franco and was shot by a sniper. But the real wound George Orwell sustained in the war was having his eyes opened to the real intent of the Left:

It was his experience in Spain that did the most to shape his vision of the future. In their eagerness to remake the world, his Communist allies in the war showed him that the individual meant nothing to their struggle. The power of the party was all that mattered. Ruthlessly, they crushed every form of dissent and every expression of personal will.

Almost in a flash, he saw what lay ahead of the world as ideologies struggled to conquer independent thought. The lies, the betrayals, the manipulation of facts, the spying, informing and the brainwashing would all be done in the name of a greater good, but the end result would be less freedom for most people and a great deal more power for a few.

As Orwell the writer, he made it his mission to warn the world of the dangers ahead. At first, very few people listened...

The true believers didn't want to hear that Stalin and his agents were undermining the cause of freedom. Instead, they turned on the messenger and denounced him as a liar and traitor.

Margaret Drabble and George Orwell wouldn't get along too well I don't believe. She outed herself with this passage from her diatribe:

The Vietnamese had won the war, but had lost the peace.
Only someone who truly loves Big Brother would believe the Vietnamese people were the winners when America pulled out of their country. The circle comes full. The anti-war movement was the culprit there as well.

Tell us how you really feel Maggie...
