Don't you worry. It would take a great deal to keep me away from here. You all are too great to just forget about over the summer.

Hopefully I'll be able to get an internship at my dad's work. He works at a power plant, and they offer a great intern program for college kids.

Thanks a bunch. The support from here is amazing and much appreicated.

You know, I've noticed that, now that the 'military phase' is over with, even Fox news doesn't cover much over there.

Sometimes I feel like calling in and saying MY BABY'S still there!! Don't forget about him!!

It sure IS a sacrifice!

Where will Eric be going to school? Somewhere amenable to our conservative views I hope, so he doesn't have to gag and choke through classes.

Oh my! I'm putting together a display of my Dad's things too. He had such old and worn out ribbons on display that it was a bit of an embarrassment. So I bought all new and am remounting it for him. I also want to get him the unofficial cold war medal to add to the display. The military didn't approve it for wear on the active uniforms, which I think is a shame. I will keep the old ones for posterity.

Hope you kept a hankie nearby to avoid getting your displays damp.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. Our veterans are a special group and we owe our very existence to them. In return they ask for so little.

That must be very awesome for you. You know they are leaving this class with a new respect for music, and maybe even a newfound talent.

He's going to go to the same Christian College where our oldest daughter went (and graduated from last year), and our older son is going (though he's studying in Europe right now).

The history department has some liberals......not hard core types, of course......but the atmostphere is loving and mostly conservative, so it's a good place to learn.

I know exactly what you mean. My brother is still "in theatre" on some ship somewhere. Okay, I know the name but can't say it.

The guys I was sending "Support Our Troop" articles to are on their way home on the Connie.

But, there are still three Marines on my personal prayer list - one in Baghdad; a Navy jet jockey still on a carrier in the ME - and they've stopped covering anything having to do with our guys while they are still facing such danger.

I asked for and recieved my fathers military records and I was surprised at the detailed records they keep in St. Louis

I have quite a few of his original letters of recommendation and promotion letters and even a few of his controversial responses to soldiers in the Korean Theatre. I have a letter that my Dad sent in response to a soldier when he was a CWO2, who was asking for a leave of absence from the Korean War to be by his Wife's side while she was to undergo a serious operation for cancer. My fathers response was to deny his request and it read as follows.....

"If the ARMY wanted you to have a Wife, we would have issued you one"

I can't tell you how much that differs from the impression I have always held of my Dad. He worshiped my mother and would have gone AWOL if she needed him. I am still shaking my head in dis-belief :-)

Psalm 5

1 Give ear to my words, O LORD,
        Consider my meditation.
        2Give heed to the voice of my cry,
        My King and my God,
        For to You I will pray.
        3My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD;
        In the morning I will direct it to You,
        And I will look up.

        4For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness,
        Nor shall evil dwell with You.
        5The boastful shall not stand in Your sight;
        You hate all workers of iniquity.
        6You shall destroy those who speak falsehood;
        The LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.

        7But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy;
        In fear of You I will worship toward Your holy temple.
        8Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies;
        Make Your way straight before my face.

        9For there is no faithfulness in their mouth;
        Their inward part is destruction;
        Their throat is an open tomb;
        They flatter with their tongue.
        10Pronounce them guilty, O God!
        Let them fall by their own counsels;
        Cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions,
        For they have rebelled against You.

        11But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;
        Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;
        Let those also who love Your name
        Be joyful in You.
        12For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous;
        With favor You will surround him as with a shield.

Exactly.

It's not safe, and there's still a lot of work to be done, and frankly, I don't want to see a full hour about Scott Peterson coverage on Fox news.

I DID see that Ollie North is going to have a Mother's Day special for us Mom's with 'kids' over there. I'm sure I'll cry the whole way through, but I'm definitely going to watch it.

Talking about display cases and veterans.....My husband and I just recently learned a lot....his Mom gave him his Uncle's medals, hat, etc. from WWII. (He died in Sweden after their B52? was hit with flak). My husband put together a really nice display and we're using it to educate a grandson. It's so nice of you two to honor your family members, and I'm impressed, of course with your military knowledge. (We are very uneducated in that regard.)

"George W. Bush not only has my support and my Vote, he has my respect and admiration as well as all the prayer’s I can send his way.

Mr. President...... Thank You for all you have done. "

Beautifully stated as usual!!!![And yes, the RATS are pathetically predictable (with Byrd the most pathetic of all) -- and, of course, the leftist media is right there lapping it all up. What a group of losers! Let them whine -- the incredible images are already imbedded in the nation's collective consciousness!!]

OK, now I'm going to bed!

"If the ARMY wanted you to have a Wife, we would have issued you one"

I'm sorry, but that is too funny! It's amazing the sides of our parents that we never see.

The military is nothing without paperwork. I won't have to request my father's files, his house is overflowing with decades worth of papers that I, his executix, will have to wade through some day (many years from now, I hope). I'm sure those papers must mean so much to you. I have copies of my GGGrandfather's Civil War files which are equally fascinating.
