The thing to remember about O'Reilly is that it's always about him (very much like another popular broadcaster). This is no exception. You correctly imply that this criticism is designed to deflect personal criticism regarding HIS recent racially insensitive remarks.

I thought this story about the prom was going on in Albany, Georgia.
Albany, Georgia is in Dougherty County, not Baldwin County.
Is there a second segregated prom event in Baldwin County?
Or what?

I am increasingly surprised as to what Bill O'Reilly has morphed into. I find his format--the shrill, scold talking over his guests--off-putting enough, but his stance on this Georgia white-only prom as it relates to Perdue is bizarre, to say the least. While I (and probably most people) find the prom thing ugly and stupid, I found his tirade this evening (with the spokesperson from Perdue's office) not only unpersuasive, but inconsistent. In particular, his response to the letter writer who asked for his distinguishing the prom thing from black-only clubs and functions was an arrogant, dismissive mocking.

If he keeps this up, his audience will shrink to Donahue numbers. He is rapidly losing me, and I considered myself a fan 18 months ago.

BTW, I do agree with the notion that Perdue woiould be well served to issue a statement condemning racially divisive practices of any nature. But that is all he can do--the school neither sanctioned nor countenanced the white-only "prom", so there is no government action that is tolerable. It was, by all accounts, a private thing. And people still have the right to be stupid bigots, as long as it is not government-supported (see, e.g., Augusta National). This limits what Perdue can or should do. Of course, O'Reilly would--and did--shout over these important, inconvenient facts. That is a classic liberal tactic.

PS--at least he let that anti-American b@sta@rd Danny Glover have it tonight.

When my twin daughters graduated, all 'we' parents of a large group of popular kids got together to host a graduation dance.

We rented the local dance hall, hired the best local band, and each honoree was allowed to invite a certain number of guests. Ron Gant, a fairly successful baseball player, was a guest and also a fellow graduate that year.

I like O'Reilly, but he goes overboard on his rants sometimes!! My point is; a private party IS a private party, and you can invite or exclude whoever you want.

I emailed O'Reilly both nights RE:

The FNC promos led me to believe that the prom was school sponsored. It was not. O'Reilly's on-air comments & chosen emails indicated that the private event was school sponsored or school condoned.

Tonight O'Reilly was still referring to it as a 'school prom'. What spinning in the "No Spin Zone"!

Bill is losing my respect big-time with this PC pandering ratings ploy.

Perdue needs to go.

Not because of any of this but because the first act of the first Republican Governor since the Yankee occupation, RAISED TAXES.

Heck, at least we knew what we had when Zell Miller was Governor.

I am ashamed of the responses that a few FReepers have made about this issue. I fought with Blacks and Hispanics in Viet Nam and I would rather have them in my home than the bigots on this website. You people have no problem with refusing admittance of a fellow graduate because of their skin color? Sheeessss...a hundred and thirty five years have passed since the end of the Civil War and you people still discriminate people because of their race. People have no control over their race and but for the grace of God go you. What will you say if on judgment day you find out God is black? Or if God would say "No bigots need apply."

Why in the world are we defending a white prom? It's a startling anachronism and I'm amazed we're still engaged in this kind of segregation. It's like we've fallen through a time warp and are defending "separate but equal" all over again. O'Reilly has his head on straight and is absolutely correct in chewing Perdue out on this one.

Alright, I'm probably gonna get all kinds of flack for saying this, but I really don't care. There are times when black people want to be with other black people and white people want to be with other white people. It is not necessarily exclusionary. Blacks have been having their own private proms for many years. There can be several reasons for this. One, when it comes to dances, blacks and white often do not enjoy the same style of music. Second, and I realize this is a biggie for some people; at dances there is more intimate contact between members of the opposite sex and MANY people, black and white, do not want have those kinds of relationships with members of another race. It might be a family thing or it might be a personal thing, but either way, it doesn't make you a racist.

Speaking personally, there is a couple that I work with who are also relatively close neighbors. They are black. I like them both and have no problems whatsoever with socializing with them. They bug me about going out with them to a club dancing. I also have no problem telling them that there are no white men at the clubs they go to and that is why I wouldn't want to go. They joke about it, but they are not in the least offended by it. Some people are just professional offendees and I'm getting pretty sick of hearing from them.

Bill "Sadam" O Reilly speaks like a dictator, it's his way or else. Very similar to the Democraps politics of FEAR, DIVISION and HATRED!

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

Strange, I have never heard anyone protest "The Black Student Union" which exists at most colleges. Or the fact some black students hold their own graduations (with only blacks). I often wondered what would happen if "The White Student Union" was instituted at colleges. Or if white students elected to have an all white graduation ceremony. Now, some will call me probably label me a racist for posting this - but I deal with fact or fiction. There is a double standard....

I emailed him while the show was on. I don't want to live in a state where the governor has the right to tell anyone who attends what party.

Of course, the first (and formost) question: Bill, what the hell does the Governor of the state of Georgia have to do with it?

The school and more particularly the students chose to have two different proms. I didn't see Sonny Perdue standing on the steps daring the National Guard to integrate the dance...

How moronically stupid is Bill O'Reilly becoming? Has he inherited some brain disease?

He's got some personal problem with Sonny Perdue, and as opposed to looking like a complete a$$, he needs to admit it and move it.

I used to work for an engineering firm in the midwest. All of the black employees belonged to a "club" where ONLY the blacks met for lunch once a month. No whites were allowed. Many of the white employees, myself included, resented the fact that we would have been fired if we had openly had a "club" that forbid blacks. Sounds like a double standard to me.

Today's media - including O'Reilly - watched too many adventures of Superman.

They have confused the job of the reporter, with that of "savior of the world".

The media now seeks to first, make the news, THEN report it.

The party in Ga. was a private party. enuff sedd.
