"You're smart enough to know that an "all-white" anything is an invitation to scrutiny."

But all black never is. Don't you find that a little bit hypocritical? I find it a LOT hypocritical....and wrong.

If that is what you are going to reduce this to, than you need to take that up with your literacy teacher.

Reading comprehension might be something you want to learn.

Do you happen to know if O'Reilly ever have an opinion on the Martha Burke vs. Augusta National Golfcourse debate?
I don't recall one way or the other.

You must be one of those people that sees racists behind every bush. I have read the entire thread and I have yet to see a single racist comment. Good grief. has the left so brainwashed us that we can't even have discussions anymore?

O'Reilly wants to be looked upon as a "moderate" he hates to be called a conservative. I disagree with the all white prom however the Governor has no blame in the matter. And second O'Reilly can talk all he wants about how it is wrong to justify wrong with other wrongs. Their are black supremicist events all the time and O'Reilly hasn't said a word. At my college there is going to be a Hip Hop day for blacks. It is ridiculous, this is what I call reverse segregation.

O'Reilly is an equal opportunity basher. Perdue deserves bashing. To hide and not make any comment about the all white prom "because there is nothing in it for me" is disgraceful. While he couldnt prevent it, he as a leader could certainly have shamed those that took part in it speaking out against it. Instead Perdue hid, not wanting to offend the folk. Thats not called leadership. If Perdue cant take the heat, he ought to get out of the kitchen. And whats with getting you to fight his battles. Is he chicken to face O'Reilly himself?

I think the kids will mature and realize the insensitivity of what they have done, but putting scarlet Rs on them is no answer

You think they are going to learn without their parents and the local leaders telling them that its wrong. Doubtful. If they were shamed now, maybe in the future they will understand why.

O'Reiily is totally justified in decrying the Governors silence and you are delusional if you think calling racists to account is bad for the GOP.

If you are not a rat operative to begin with.

Still, to repeat, the school is sponsoring an intergrated prom this year, same as last year.

So what's your proiblem [other than being the PC Police (think about that please)] with some folks donig a private gathering in a manner you seem to abhor?

[I want to know every detail of your life, I'm serious, I'm betting I can rip you apart, in a PC manner if only I know all the details....wanna bet?]

That's the problem with PC Nazisim, all will be ground to dust if closely examined by an iflexiblle code...

many of the sanctimonious liberal elites who are so outraged by this send their kids to all-white schools

Is that any excuse for this group of white trash?

BINGO! And this is not unusual in my understanding.

"It makes casual Republicans and Independents in the South feel (like Natalie Maines) "Ashamed" of their party and urgent to distance themselves from the bad old days of racism (where the Democrats reigned supreme)."

Maybe it is US who need to get away from the knee-jerk reactions every time some racebaiting leftist squeals "racist". Personally, I think that is more divisive, and more deplorable, than having an all-white or all-black social event.

Also, making the 18 year old white kids that went to the all-white prom national pariahs is not going to advance anything. I think the kids will mature and realize the insensitivity of what they have done, but putting scarlet Rs on them is no answer.

And I hope that blacks that have attended all-black functions will mature and realize the insensitivity of what they have done.

You're correct that it was a private affair--a private party, not a school-sponsored function. And i have to wonder if the kids purposely excluded blacks from attending, or if they simply invited friends in their clique who, by virtue of the nature of cliques, tend to be a homogeneous group. I don't think it's something that the Governor needs to involve himself in--it's not the govt's business who invites whom to a private party. Talk about a slippery slope!

Coming on the heels of the flag flap many rural whites in Ga.are beginning to feel that Atlanta Liberals and their largest voting block (45-50% of Dem Vote is Black)spend to much time insulting them and their heritage.

Dont tell me that the heritage of rural whites in Georgia is racism. I doubt it very much. But some of you seem only too keen on giving these group of white trash a pass.
