Good point. On a related note, anti-smoking warriors' oft-repeated argument that smokers cost society extra money for health care is largely false. If you plot an individual's health care money spent over time, the curve looks the same for most people. Very little until right before death when it skyrockets up.

Yep. Smokers save money because they often die sooner and more quickly rather than later and more slowly.
