To me, this note is indicative of things wrong above and beyond grammar.
This is also indicative of either lack of concern, or carelessness in the part of the teacher.
If she's not concerned enought to proofread a note being sent home to her student's parents, how concerned is she about the part of her job the parents never see?
As far as the mistakes in my post, and comparing them to this teacher's...English is my second language, learned as a teenager.
Her grammar should be significantly better than mine.

Don't post what you do not mean /isn't the truth / is likely to be misinterpretted, then.
We don't want DU filth here . They have their own site and that ilk should stay over there. Understand, now ?

I've worked for years in auto safetyIn your profession, if you (or someone else) were to give a formal letter with the grammar that was shown in the original post, what would happen?
Maybe that is why the quality of professionalism, in your opinion, is acceptable.
I think I will go buy a bicycle.

"EACH student should bring THEIR own bagged lunch. Each is singular, their is plural, yet they refer to the same...I'm sure there's a grammatical description for this, but I don't recall it. Drives me nuts when I see or hear this error, often in radio and TV commercials! " Unfortunately we need to get used to this type of error. You see, the plural is neither masculine nor feminine as is the singular. To write the phrase correctly, you would have to commit the sin of Political Incorrectness. I suppose you could say "his or her own" but even then, there might be a small part of the population still offended. :)
