I admit that Vermont is a liberal state, but someone had to vote him in on a conservative ticket that included his backing a tax cut and the overturning of a social security system that has had elders locked into liberal control for many years. And you both know how liberals hate to lose these type of issues so much that they would never vote anyone in in their lockstep style.

Yeah I doubt Vermont (or any state) is bereft of conservatives. Actually from what I heard, the just elected Governor Jim Douglas is fairly conservative. He ran against Leahy, maybe it's time for him to retire Jumping Jim in 06.
