the Club for Growth, a conservative advocacy group, has run ads showing Voinovich and Snowe flanked by the French flag, which was not meant as a compliment. A very ham-fisted attempt by the Club for Growth and their media firm Red Sea LLC. Accomplished absolutely nothing.

Sorry! The attack ads shook up Voinovich (there isn't much there there to wake up Snow), and even better, it warned the Republican senators (a sorry lot if there ever was one) that the rank-and-file were paying attention. If the effort continues it could really shake-up the Republican Party. For example, conservatives in Arizona are pleading for a TV campaign to attack McCain on his miserable record on taxes. (His attempt to suborn the Constitution on free speech issues would be another matter.)

A very ham-fisted attempt by the Club for Growth and their media firm Red Sea LLC. Accomplished absolutely nothing. How do you know? Why would Democrats be letting Jeffords give the Saturday address? Why would Jeffords be threatening Republicans if it did not have any effect? The Democrats are afraid the Republicans will cave under pressure from Bush and help for Club for Growth. That is why Jeffords is making this threat. These adds are working, the "mainstream media" is saying they are backfiring. Do you truly believe the "mainstream media."
