Aren't all churches coming together in unity?
The move toward the global church is called the "ecumenical movement." Spearheaded by the Roman Catholic Church, it is designed to bring all churches under the influence of the pope. Since the idea of love and unity is very appealing, many Christians have welcomed the idea, without thinking it through. How can an evangelical Christian, saved by faith alone, be in unity with a Roman Catholic who believes in salvation by good works? The result is always a watering down of the simple, pure gospel.

In his book, Smokescreens (you can read it online), Jack Chick explains why it is important for us to witness to Catholics, rather than accepting them as brothers and sisters in Christ. We must love them enough to tell them the truth! Some will become angry, others will respond in faith. But if we truly love them, we won't hold back the truth.

For more information in this subject, we make available a number of books (see Books: Catholicism). In addition, you can read online a comparison of the current catechism with the Bible, showing how it teaches a false gospel, written by Rick Jones (see Understanding Roman Catholicism).

When I was a kid, I thought Jack Chick was just "interesting". Now it seems he may have, after all this time, been sying what needed to be said.

That is not what we believe. Faith alone is the way to salvation. Good works is a by product of that faith.

This is a common misconception of other christians.

"In addition, you can read online a comparison of the current catechism with the Bible, showing how it teaches a false gospel, written by Rick Jones ..."

I wonder if you have a copy of the Roman Catholic catechism, or just what James' interpretation of it is?

Also, good works are a by-product of my faith, and therefore evil works would be a by-product of non-faith.

But according to what you have posted, than as long as I have faith, I can commit evil works, and still be saved?

The ecumenism of the Roman Catholic Church is an aspect of the papal policy of assimilating local religions in whatever foreign lands they enter. Incidentally, this assimilationist policy finds expression in the infamous photo of JP2 kissing the Koran. The long-held policy of assimilation also explains the syncretistic elements of the Roman Catholic Church such as Mariolatry, High Mass, Sacramentalism, etc., none of which are evident in the New Testament Church of the Book of Acts and Apostolic Letters.

Beyond ecumenism, the danger of the Roman Catholic Church has been long recognized by Americans in its antipathy to separation of Church and State. The popes have historically held (and never recanted) the subordination of the State to Church--that is, subordination to the papacy of the Roman Catholic Church. With the communications revolution of the 20th century globalizing politics, commerce, technology, etc., the pope has reset the sights of institutional policy.

Jack Chick the source of free market fundamentalism? This would explain a lot.
