"but it's not the first time a president has slept on an aircraft carrier - then-President Bill Clinton did that."
Yet another example of sloppy reporting:
From USS Kitty Hawk Public Affairs
On June 6, 1963 President John F. Kennedy embarked the ship, remaining aboard for one night. Schultzs sailors accommodated the presidents request for an extra-stiff bed by cutting a piece of plywood to put beneath the mattress.

I noticed they did not mention the loss of towels and bath robes from the last time.

When Billy Clintooooon stayed on the carrier, the Commander in Chief referred to the carrier as a boat! Another data point on his knowledge and awareness of the military.

And President Nixon spent the night on an aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean in 1970.

Another sloppy bit of reporting is that "believing it's the first tailhook landing by a President". This implies that no President ever had the experience. Bush 41 was a carrier pilot, although it was years prior to him holding the office.

X42 was just trying to recreate the Tailhook Convention scandal of 1991.

If I recall correctly, clinton's mery band of thieves stole anything that wasn't nailed down when they left that carrier.
