This has some historical accuracy. Before recronstruction and the freeing of the slaves, there was no need for racists to worry about armed blacks. After the slaves were freed, states responded with gun controls such as concealed carry prohibition, to ensure that blacks could not make themselves "lynch-proof."
A return to the days before racist gun control is a good thing.

Not exactly accurate.
Minnesota was a Vermont-carry state, until 1975.
