Vocal minorities may give the impression they are in the majority, but it is simply an impression. From radio advertising, you could be made to believe that most businesses are car dealerships.
Maybe there are folks out there who don't care whether you know what they believe or not (not everyone likes to advertise his or her life -- hence the use of pseudonyms on discussion forums such as FreeRepublic).

That's debatable.
When it comes to the official Church position, they might leave the door open for acceptance of some aspects of evolution or adaptation etc. but they firmly state that God created the universe, man's soul and would be the ultimate designer and overseer of any so called limited evolutionary changes, if they did indeed occur.
This is different than Darwinism or any secular theory of evolution.
And I challenge you to find any mainstream major Catholic figure or Christian theologian who actively advocates belief in evolution.
If you can find any, they are few and far between.
The majority of mainstream Christian ministers, teachers and theologians are on the pro-Creation side of the debate.
