I dont think Rita Cosby has any sources in the Modesto PD...they have been really tight lipped. I think her sources might be in the FBI, who only knew what was going on in SD...

Some helpful information:

Clinical pictures in antisocial personality:
Typically intelligent, spontaneous, and very likeable on first acquaintance, antisocial personalities are deceitful and manipulative, callously using others to achieve their own ends. Often they seem to live in a series of present moments, without consideration for the past or future. Also included in the general category of antisocial personality are "hostile psychopaths," who are prone to acting out the impulses in remorseless and often senseless violence.

Ability to put up "a good front" to impress and exploit others, projecting blame onto others for their own socially disapproved behavior. Often antisocial individuals are charming and likeable, with a disarming manner that easily wins friends. Typically, they have a good sense of humor and an optimistic outlook. If detected in lies they will often seem sincerely sorry and promise to make amends - but not do so. They seem to have good insight into other people's needs and weaknesses and are very adept at exploiting them. For example, many psychopaths engage in unethical sales schemes in which they use their charm and the confidence they inspire in others to make "easy money." They readily find escuses and rationalizations for their antisocial conduct, typically projecting the blame onto someone else. Thus they are often able to convince other people - as well as themselves - that they are free of fault.

Inability to maintain good interpersonal relationships. Although initially able to win the liking and friendship of other people, antisocial personalities are seldom able to keep close friends. Irresponsible and egocentric, they are usually cynical, unsympathetic, ungrateful, and remorseless in their dealings. They seemingly cannot understand love in others or give it in return. As Horton, Louy, and Coppolillo (1974) have expressed it, the psychopathic personality "continues to move throught the world wrapped in his separateness as though in an insulator, touched rarely and never moved by his fellow man".

Anticosial personalities pose a menace not only to chance acquaintances byt also to family and friends. Manipulative and exploitive in sexual relationships, they are irresponsible and unfaithful mates. Although they often promise to change, they rarely do so for any length of time.

Many of the preceding characteristics may be found in varying degrees in neurotic individuals, in those dependent on drugs, and in those showing other maladaptive behavior patterns. In the case of the antisocial personality, however, these characteristics are extremely pronounced and occur apart from other "symptoms" of psychopathology. Whereas most neurotic endividuals, for example, are beset by worry and anxiety and have a tendency to avoid difficult situations, antisocial personalities act on their impulses fearlessly, with little or no thought for the difficulties they may be incurring.
