I just discussed this with my almost 20 year old daughter. We agreed that we would stand by our guilty child if they killed someone I wouldn't although I will acknowledge that it may be a natural inclination. I would want my child to pay their debt to society. It's a cliche, but actions have consequences ... and people have responsiblity. If you do the crime, you do the time.

We mean we would still love them and visit them in jail. We would NOT try to keep them out of jail. I have always told my kids If you do the crime, you do the time. I would help them get a lawyer for their trial, I would visit them in jail, but I would NOT try to keep them out of prison, IF they were guilty of murder. My kids know that. We have discussed that forever.
