I don't want to call Amber simple - I have never met her...but she did say she didn't know he was married. So, I can hypothesize he was dimmer than his college-educated wife. (Who I know graduated from Cal Poly, and at a minimum passed the CBEST to teach)

I believe he did have murder on his mind when he bought the boat. Remember Laci didn't even know he had purchased a boat. Neither did anyone know right away that he had a SECOND secure, storage facility rented. Sheesh DOUBLE life indeed.
