I hate to say it but it will be 24/7 on this story for the next week or more. The Liberation of Iraq will have to take a back seat. It is times like this that move me to turn ALL cable news shows OFF.

"There's a rumor floating around that a Bush Administration official asked the California authorities to wait on arresting Peterson until after the fighting war ended in Iraq."
Then why din't they ask them to wait until we bombed Syria, North Korea, Paris and the DNC?

Oh, I agree with you. A defense attorney said this was a possibility. .. not me. I think it's one horrific statement, to say the least.

Don't blame me! Carolinamom wanted it to compare it to Scott's eyes!

You make a good point. The press has already presided over the trial and execution of Scott Peterson. Given the mass media's legendary skill at getting the story wrong at almost every turn, I'm reticent to light up the torch and find the pitchfork. Unless there was an imbedded news correspondent in the Peterson living room on Christmas Eve, I find the notion of eating what's been fed quite bland and in much need of salt.I agree with you. It's very difficult to judge from media reports; we all know about the legendary accuracy and unbiasedness of the major media.
That said, I think Scott Peterson drew more than enough suspicion with his erratic (stupid?) moves -- such as selling the vehicle and trying to sell the house while the spotlight is shining directly on him.
Well, if I were charitable (or a defense expert witness), I would say that by divesting himself of those constant reminders of his missing and probably dead wife, he was attempting to preserve his own sanity. Now, OTOH, it was awful quick...

I'm sure any medical type can confirm this, but typically, when women commit suicide, it is by "soft" methods (ie pill overdose, etc.) when men do it, the method is more violent (guns, hanging, etc....
I can tell you right now, physically, she would have been limited as to what she could do...for example, just putting on shoes and pants is difficult when you are that far along.

Using that argument then it could be said the war was started to divert the press attention from the Smarts. Was this a journalist question?

That the eyes are windows of the soul is very true, and when there is no soul, the eyes are empty. There are people who have no more a soul than a blade of grass does. They are alive, yes, but they most certainly do not possess a God-given soul made in His image. They may look like any other human being on the outside, but they are little more than evil and depravity and corruption made flesh. They are pod people, animated by the spirit of Satan.

What did he say?

Ironically, on A&E they showed a rerun of "City Confidential" showing the story of the Charles Stewart case in Boston, where the guy shot his pregnant wife in the head and then shot himself in the groin in a bad neighborghood, then claimed that they had been carjacked. The husband ended up killing himself once it became obvious what he had done (for insurance money). This case is very similar.

Rita saying he was arrested on the way in to the golf course.........he was going golfing with his wife and son in the morgue????? I spit on him!!!!!!!
To: Jaded
No, it's a polemic question.

Thanks Kim. I heard it on a news broadcast this morning, so I wanted to find out California Law.
