Victory's elusive fruits (Boston Globe Joykill alert)

GULF WAR II is ending with all the uncertainty and confusion with which it began. No one with the slightest interest in human rights could bemoan the passing of Saddam Hussein's brutish regime. But as the ''coalition of the willing'' turned out to be smaller and less significant than the Bush administration hoped, so are the fruits of victory proving more elusive than the administration had predicted. The expected crowds of jubilant Iraqis welcoming the victors appeared in full force only in the Kurdish north. The Shi'ite uprising in the south against Saddam never materialized. Pro-American demonstrations in Baghdad were thin, necessitating continuous broadcasts of Saddam's statue coming down for want of more. Indeed, by midweek the demonstrations against the Americans seemed to be outnumbering pro-American sentiments. The new Iraq appeared to be voicing its hostility to the United States even before the old Iraq stopped shooting.

Strange, I certainly didn't see this.

I'm getting tired of the "sky is falling" crowd seeing disaster and quagmires around every corner. Can't they do anything constructive.

Liberals can't find anything positive in ANY THING America does. They're marginalizing themselves as a bunch of America-hating goods. This is just unbelievably good news!

Isn't that what "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is all about?

"Hear No Good, See No Good, And Speak No Good About America", pretty much sums up the motto of today's American Left.

The Boston Globe is owned by the New York Times. Both papers should only be used to line the bottom of bird cages and for puppy training. Both are anti American rags.

All liberals are still choking on the fact that Gore couldn't steal the election. Criticsm of anything and everything the administration does is just one manifestation of their ailment. The better Bush does, the sicker they get.

Its good for us they act like sick puppies. I wouldn't have it any other way. To tell you the truth, I would really start worrying if they became rational. I don't see any sign they'll wake up soon.
