Yes, how would he know, at that stage? And for heaven's sake, he can file a disavowal of paternity, or whatever name they might have for it in that state! He would just have to carefully mind that there's a time limit for such actions.
For a while we were speculating that he was upset b/c a divorce was in the wind, and maybe he realized she'd have custody, and he'd just be paying child support for all those years. If we were correct in thinking his mind worked that way, I'd think he'd have been relieved if he found out the baby wasn't his! He could divorce her, and be off the hook.
