Chef! could be really funny at times. Unfortunately my local PBS (britcoms are one thing PBS IS good for) station only carried it for a year or two, and after I first discovered it it took me a little while to warm to it so I never saw all the episodes. The one where he was trying to acquire some unpasteurized Stilton was hilarious, as was the one with the rant about his mother's cooking abilities ("She'd boil the vegetables for hours and hours and then throw out the water, the only thing with any flavour left in it by that point", to roughly paraphrase")

The best part of "Chef!" was his wife, Janice. She was classy and funny at the same time.
