I tend to to believe those that live and breathe politics, whether Liberal or Conservative, will spend time alone unless they can find someone as obsessed with their pet issues as themselves.

I'm currently married to a woman in her mid-thirties with a Masters Degree. Until recently, she wasn't sure if Japan was an ally or enemy during WW2. And her political views were simplistic, shallow and a little too far left of center. But she couldn't care less about politics. She's got intelligence and humor which
compensate.

And her political views are changing slowly but surely.

Actually it's less of a matter of pet issues than one of intellectual honesty. If someone is a leftist they are simply intellectually dishonest. I cannot abide intellectual dishonesty. It's a matter of being able to speak to someone. If they *believe* that socialism is a good thing, I have little use for them in a relationship. If they support a kleptocracy form of government, what does that say for their views on relationship 'material' distributions. Being friends with them is another matter. It's easier to argue politically with someone you aren't emotionally involved with, trust me. Much easier to convert then that way. Since I broke up with mr. clinton/gore sticker he's come to agree that socialism doesn't work, never will and that maybe a 'fetus' is a person after all.

It was easier to find a conservative guy than I'm sure a conservative woman. It never occurred to me to ask before my experience with mr. clinton/gore.
