Dating just to date is pretty pointless I think. I just went on my first date last semester my freshman yr. in college and haven't seen the need to try to ask someone out since (though there is someone I am about ready to ask out...I am considering it anyway).
Dating is something that should be done rarely I think and not just to date, but get to know the person.

Any young college girls going to be there...:)
Actually, a cruise sounds nice after the awful surgery I am going to have early this summer, but I don't like spending money usually and sure as heck would not blow that much on a cruise.

I do keep the politics at home, but I also don't date people unless I have a fairly good idea of where they are on the political spectrum. It doesn't really need to come up.

Join active Christian organizations. You'll meet like minded women. I appreciate your suggestion. I really do. And I'm probably going to get flamed big time for this, but I will offer it, and I do so as an evangelical Christian:
I think you'll find a lot of bitter, angry, alienated, vengeful women who have boyfriend, ex-husband, and/or daddy issues and have co-opted the Word of God for use as a weapon to indict, condemn and control men.
Now I don't base this superfluous observations. I've been involved in several ministries -- not exclusively related to singles groups -- at my church for several years. And this is not an isolated phenomenon. It's epidemic. And it's very discouraging.
And to point out that I'm not just bashing women, there are plenty of men -- mostly under 30 -- who are similarly corrputing God's Word as a tool to bed as many women as they can. And I'm surprised at how many candidates they find for the taking.

Agreed. I generally keep politics out of dates, but because I already know generally where the girl stands by the time I ask her out.
If you just met her, discuss it. Quite frankly, to not discuss it out of fear seems to be being a pansy to me, not a conservative trait.

I would bet this is evident in society at large but gets expressed in this manner in this specific group of people. In a different setting, the same issues come up with different packaging.

Actually, I have met a guy like this (he was almost 40) and he wasn't even religious. He ranted and raved about how I was supposed to have sex with him because he was a "man" and it was a woman's God declared job to meet the sexual needs of men. I wanted to smack him across the room in the worst way.

My prob is that I suck at conversation; I can never think of things to talk about...lol. With some girls, it doesn't matter since they can talk about things well. But, I dated a girl once last year and it was a complete disaster since she couldn't think of much to say. This year, we went out and had some fun just as friends....but I came prepared with stuff to say. And it was a blast.
I am working on it though to try to get some good friendhips going though (and perhaps more eventually). I keep a list of conversation topics and write something down when one pops into my head.

love your "personal motto."

That would be ME! Conservative AND a great cook. An answer to My prayers -and several other male friends I could mention!!! :)
To: Clemenza
No worship music? That is a vital part! But, my church only sings OT songs accapella, so it actually means something instead of those praise bands etc.

Reading Anthem in itself turned me off from Rand.
She has some very dangerous ideas that are in NO WAY conservative.
Objectivism is not a conservative philosophy, but an immoral, egotistical, self-centered one.
To: mhking
Dating for Conservative Males LOL, I don't worry about that.

Being a single, conservative gal is no picnic either. Oh, I dunno. I wouldn't mind going on a picnic with you. Of course, where I live, you can walk ten feet from the highway for a picnic and feel like the world has disappeared -because all the trees and mountains are all you can see.

Guys, umm, dating is supposed to be a screening process, right? If you don't want gals who aren't feminine don't ask them out. Long hair and long skirts are generally good indications. What state are you in where (conservative, liberal, anything)women are still wearing skirts?
To: Mr. K
Sorry, Mr. K., I am already spoken for. The love of my life married me 6 1/2 years ago.
I pray that all of you conservative single guys find GOOD conservative women. Being lonely BITES but, being with the wrong person is much worse. Be patient, be kind and BE SELECTIVE!

You just need to find the RIGHT woman. When you are with the right person, conversation just seems to flow, without much effort. Don't try to hard. The right woman will stimulate you intellectually as well as...well, you know what I mean.
Being friends FIRST is a great way to really get to know one another. DON'T GIVE UP! If the gal is really a conservative, you'll have plenty to talk about. Like, for example, how misguided liberals are ;^)
