Or is it something being made up or exagerated by an irreputable source?

My thoughts exactly. What is the "Straights Times?"

STRAITS Times not "Straights" Times. Did you bother to click the above link? Looks plenty legit. Newspaper of the Asia/Pacific Region.

I just went there, but I have no idea whether it's reputable or not or if the story is true or not. I've never heard of this publication before.

I've yet to have reason to believe or disbelieve this story, but with a slant toward believing it. Why would some person or party fabricate it? Of course, I can think of reasons, but all in all, it seems genuine. Nonetheless, I reserve judgement.

Straits Times. I've posted quite a few articles from the website. The "Straits" refers to the Malacca and Singapore Straits, a major shipping channel.

You can click here to get an idea how vital the Straits are to world commerce.

Additionally on StraitsTimes from their site: < p>The Straits Times is one of the region's oldest English-language daily newspapers. It is the flagship publication of the publicly-listed Singapore Press Holdings group.

First published on July 15, 1845, The Straits Times is the most widely read newspaper in Singapore. The Sunday Times, which is produced by the same team of journalists, has a circulation of nearly 400,000 and a readership of 1.23 million.

The Straits Times strives to be an authoritative provider of news and views, with special focus on Singapore and the Asian region. It has nine bureaus in Asia and a worldwide network of other contributors.

'Nuff on the legitimacy of the source yet?
