The hard up feminists like bunnyslippers will use anything to keep their wagging tongues sharp.

Just exactly what caused you to decide to insult me? I don't even know who you are. But I am neither "hard up" nor a "feminist". Perhaps you're just a male who hates all women.

Estimates of Saddam's wealth range from $1billion to more than $20bn. Richard Armitage, the US Deputy Secretary of State, recently put it at $6bn. Whatever the case, it is clear that fresh intelligence could provide Iraq with a much-needed cash windfall. But without new leads from Saddam's defeated regime, most of the loot will almost certainly remain out of reach.

Some of these assets were eye-catching - they included classic cars and an 8.4 per cent stake in Hachette, the French company that publishes Elle.

A prominent figure in this report is Swiss-based Hassam Rassam, whom Kroll says has been suspected of running a pension fund for Saddam's family. It is reported that Rassam, a multi-millionaire, still makes frequent trips to Iraq.

In the early Nineties, Rassam was found to have lavished expensive gifts, including prostitutes, on Michael Allcock, a corrupt Inland Revenue inspector who conducted an investigation into UK-based Iraqis who were suspected of links to Tikriti. Rassam denies any connection to Tikriti, and when asked by this newspaper in 1991 if he was Saddam's banker, he laughed and replied: 'I wish I was.' The new Kroll report also states that large unrecovered quantities of gold, and $7bn in bank notes, believed to include arms bribes to senior Iraqis, were seen in Switzerland in 1991.

Despite the best efforts of America and Britain, oil has also remained a major source of wealth for the regime. Saddam has made about $2bn a year by imposing a surcharge on every barrel of oil sold under the UN's oil-for-food programme, according to the Coalition for International Justice.
