Does denying history make one an American? We
supported dictatorships all during the Cold War because
it was in our national interest.
Pre-emption is a similar problem. When someone else
proceeds to do it, we will scream bloody murder. If you
are trying to monopolize all good deeds to yourself and
bad deeds to others, you will be disappointed.
