How is it that a population with a religion that is so willing to die for a Jihad and practice religion so fervently is so willing to steal that which does not belong to them? I think the moslem population is riddled with hypocrits and ignorant ragheads that have no honor or faith.

Most Iraqi Muslims are not of the jihading brand of Islam, and it is a heavily secular country. I don't think the museum looting had anything at all to do with Islam. Just impoverished people in a bit of a frenzy to get their hands another pile of riches that the government had kept almost enitrely to itself. And it wouldn't surprise me if some of the more portable antiquities that were fairly recently in the museum disappeared before the looting frenzy. Jet-setting senior Ba'ath party members know how and where to fence such things at high prices; random Iraqi citizens don't.

I hope a well-publicized amnesty program, with a modest incentive, is announced very quickly. Most of the people involved in the looting seem to be very poor Iraqis, who'd be happy to bring the stuff back tomorrow for a case of Poland Spring water or a sack of grain.

Because God knows we have no Christians who would steal anything that which does not belong to them...
