I don't think Shep should take back his defense -- he was getting emails saying, "Bleep all the journalists, what do we care," from couch potatoes...who are only watching Fox...because they have journalists out there. Again, he was like a three-year-old with it, but he's goofy like that (he's for the Left Coast demographic, I think) -- I love making fun of him, heh :p ("They spell in squiggles!" -- "Magical policemen!!"").
Anyway, you get what I'm saying. Those reporters who are out there sticking their necks out to get us news and not slanting things (badly -- everyone slants a little, it's the nature of the beast) -- I have the utmost admiration for; those who are purely glory-seeking and secretly hope the US gets knocked down a peg -- I have the utmost disdain for. I just don't want to tar all of them with the same brush.
What you said, however, bears repeating, and post links to it if you have them ready:
Yep, but CNN wasn't just cowardly, they were making money off the relationship, like all those American companies, German companies and Swiss banks who made money off the Nazis.
(does it have its own thread yet?)
I agree. Those who said that are dead wrong. OTOH, I believe Shep -- along with the rest of the media I to which I have access -- got carried away with the "we are the story" thing, and I told them about it. The "collateral damage" at the Palestinian was no worse than any other, and no greater story for Americans than the American soldiers and Marines killed that day. It was all we heard, though, for nearly twenty-four hours.
